News 18 Gujarati: The Finance Ministry has approved 8.65% interest rate for the Employee Provident Fund (EPF). This will benefit the 6 million members of the EPFO. Under the Finance Ministry, the Financial Services Department (DFS) has agreed to the EPFO's decision to provide 8.65% interest on its members to EPF for 2018-19. The Financial Services Department has approved the proposal of EPFO on the basis of the fulfillment of certain conditions related to adequate arrangement of retirement fund. The decision was taken in February - this year, the Central Board of Trustees, the chairman of EPFO's decision making body, which is headed by Labor Minister Santosh Gangwar, On 19th, the EPF decided to increase the interest rate to 8.65%.

Interest rate increase after three years - EPF rate has been increased after three years. Interest rate on EPF was 8.55% in 2017-18. EPFO reduced the interest rate to 8.65% in 2016-17, which was 8.8% in 2015-16. According to the EPFO estimates, after raising the interest rate, there would be an additional burden of Rs.115.67 crore. If there is only 8.7%, then it would be worth a loss of Rs 158 crore. So, it has been fixed at 8.65 percent.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it will shortly issue Rs 20 denomination banknotes, in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series, bearing the signature of the central bank’s governor Shaktikanta Das. “The Rs 20 note will be greenish-yellow in colour.
The new banknote has a motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage,” a statement by the RBI said. All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 20 issued by the RBI in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender, it clarified. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse. The dimension of the new Rs 20 note will be 63 mm x 129 mm, the statement said.
The obverse (front) side of the note contains a see-through register with denominational numeral 100, a latent image with the numeral and also a Devanagari version of the same. It also contains a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, with micro letters ‘RBI’, ‘Bharat’, ‘India’ and ‘20′, along with with a guarantee clause, Governor’s signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards the right of Gandhi’s portrait. On the right side of the portrait are — an Ashoka Pillar emblem and electrotype (20) watermarks.

At the elementary level, children are always learning and sometimes don't even know it. When I was in kindergarten, I can remember playing at the different stations in the classroom. One station was for gardening and we could plant seeds and check them every day to see how much they had grown. Another station in that classroom that sticks out in my mind is the arts and crafts station. There was a large array of crayons, markers, scissors, construction paper and building materials we could use to make pretty decorations to give to our parents for our homes. By choosing which station we wanted to work at, we were becoming much more interested in what we were learning because we were doing what we wanted to do, not what we had to do.
